Start at Bowman Trailhead in the Lostine River Valley. Hike up to Brownie Basin (3.8 mi), take Chimney Lake trail and follow around Chimney Lake (1.3 mi) and continue to a pass (1.1 mi)where you can either go west to Hobo Lake (.8 mi), or north to Wood Lake.Trail Description
Moderate climb to Brownie Basin. A lot of shade and some delightful water to cross. Stepping stones prevent wet boots. Trail to Chimney begins after 3.8 miles and climbs north/northwest. Passes by Laverty Lake - a charming lake. Chimney is a destination for many campers. The trail goes around the south end of the lake and then heads up to a pass above Chimney Lake where yo must either go up to Hobo Lake -- or drop down to Wood Lake. The views from the pass are spectacular.
