South West Vancouver Island

Trail Description

A beautiful and somewhat strenuous trail. Located on the South-Western part of Vancouver Island, this hike takes you along the shoreline for 75 km. The trail takes you along the coast and some inland area all the while enjoying the natural suroundings. Fair warning, you will encounter sections of mud and roots along the path. There are a number of cable cars to carry you across rivers. Areas of boardwalks take you along sections of bog lands. You will climb up and down 50 or so ladders (some have the better part of 100 rungs). Camping is on the coastline so the views are limitless. This hike has a little bit of everything.

I hiked this trail years ago and enjoyed it. Took about a week. Highly recommended. Note that overnight reservations are required between June 15 and Sept. 15. For more info: http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/pn-np/bc/pacificrim/activ/activ6a/v.aspx
