Directions

From Astoria, Oregon take Highway 101 south for four miles till you see signs directing you to the Lewis and Clark National Historical Park (Fort Clatsop). Turn left off the highway and follow the signs three miles to Fort Clatsop.

If you plan on leaving a car at the Sunset Beach Trailhead, go back to Highway 101, turn left and continue south on the highway for four miles to
Sunset Beach Rd. and turn right. Go one mile to the trailhead parking lot. No permits are needed just to park your car at either trailhead.

Trail Description

The Fort to Sea Trail takes you 6.5 miles from Fort Clatsop through coastal hills and wetlands to the ocean at Sunset Beach State Recreation Area. The
first four miles are through dense coastal forest of hemlock, spruce and alder. The next two miles will take you through open pastures and pine forests. The end of the trail comes at a viewing deck overlooking the beach.
