From Sequim, drive east on Highway 101, turning south onto Palo Alto Road. This road soon becomes Forest Service Road 28. Turn left at Forest Service Road 2860 and continue another 12 miles to the Upper Dungeness Trailhead.Trail Description
This trail, leading to Royal Basin, an alpine meadow surrounded by ridges and mountains peaks begins at the Upper Dungeness Trailhead. Continue along the trail for a mile, before taking a fork to the right that leads to the basin. Royal Lake makes for a good stopping point, but exploration above the lake is possible.
