Directions
Thirteen miles north of Bonners Ferry, Idaho on Hwy 95 bear left onto Hwy 1 for 1.5. miles to Copland Road # 45. Turn left, cross the Kootenai River and continue on, to F.Road #417 ( east slope). Head north on #417 for about 10 miles to Smith Creek Road #281. Conttinue on #281 for about 6.5 miles and turn onto road 2443. The trailhead is 6.6 miles up this road and is designated as Trail #17.Trail Description
Hike up trail #17 for about a mile until you come to the trail #18 junction. Bear right for about 2 miles to the summit. Cutoff Peak strattles Smith Ridge and offers a look at Long Canyon. The views from the summit of The American Selkirks in both directions are stunning. This hike is rated moderately difficult.
