Trail Description
Four years ago, I set out to retrace American legend and backpacking icon, the late Colin Fletcher.
After years of research and writing down the manuscript in an abandoned 1923 Santa Fe caboose in the Mojave Desert,
my book "California Serendipity - The Thousand-Mile Summer Revisited" has now been published.
Through a chain of serendipitous encounters that started in a little desert ghost town, I gained access to Fletcher's belongings and was therefore able to redo his epic walk of 1958 based on his original maps and notes.
With full coverage of the original route and maps designed by Fletcher's cartographer David Lindroth, for the first time readers will be able to follow in The Walker's footsteps.
