Mt. Hood

I will be in Portland Or November 3 and I would like to take a day hike sometime this week on or near Mt. Hood. I'm an experienced hiker from New England, however, I will only have day hike equipment. Any suggestions for a scenic hike with views ?
It may be difficult to find something on Mt. Hood since the snows have started, and I believe they got quite a bit of snow down to 3000 or 4000 feet, which greatly reduces the options.
The Gorge may offer more possibilies this time of year. If it's snow free, Larch Mountain would be a good hike. You can start at Mutlnomah or Wahkeena Falls, and hike up to the summit of the mountain (around 4000 ft), which then offers views of Mt. Hood, St. Helens, Adams, Mt. Rainier, and everything in between.
