Whittier Ridge

Just came off of the loop this weekend. 15 mile round trip and the ridge is nothing to take lightly. Heard and saw Elk all day and plenty of bear sign. You need to do it in clear dry weather and be a good route finder-there really isn't a trail over the ridge. The forrest service has made some inprovements recently and they really helped with footing. Lots of exposure and when in doubt go up-you do hit every high point on the ridge. It took us 9 hours from the car. We spent 2 hours on the ridge to go 1.5 miles. Been there done that and do not plan on going back anytime soon.
